The switch is attached to the bezel with a spanner nut (at least that's what I think they're called). It's just a round nut with a notch cut across the face. I've used a needle nose pliers to remove them. Spread the jaws so the tips go into the slots, and back off the nut. But FIRST you must remove the knob. If I remember right, there is a spring loaded catch (button) on the switch body that you depress to release the knob and shaft ... It'll pull right out. You have to reach up under the dash to press it.
