Removing power window motors from doors?

Obviously I'm going to get as much help from everyone that I can, because all of you provide excellent feedback. If you remember some of my other questions on my 1971 El Camino SS 454 with power windows and power wing vents, now I need some more advice. I have located guy in Florida that has the gears to fix the power wing vents. My question is how do I get the motors out of the doors? I've looked at them in the past and it does not look easy. Once I get the motors out I can check what the gears for the wing vents look like and he says he has the replacements. Can anyone guide me through, what is the best way to get the motors out? I would also like to replace the
rubber seals around the wing vents while I am into this. I would also like advice on how to do that. Everyone has been so helpful with my questions, you are all the best references that anyone can get. Thanks

My Haynes manual says this:
quote:
Since the bolts used to secure the the regulator are innacessible, it is necessary to drill three large holes in the metal inner door panel. The position of these holes is critical.

They than have a group of templates to locate the holes. Now remember that the Haynes has been wrong before, but you may want to pick one up ($15.00) Its on page 299. And finally it doesn't SAY that the templates will fit an Elky so you may have to innovate a little.

They also go into details about doing it with windows in place or removed etc.

Did they even make power vent windows? That's pretty far out if they did.

Well, I am sure they did but I have not been able to really identify what cars and what years they were made for. Everyone that sees my car feels that they were factory installed, and I also beleive that by looking at them. However the terminolgy on CAPO has come up, and possibly that could be how they were put on. Anyone that can tell us more -- please do, I would like to get to the bottom of this. The vin # is 136801L132176. The first five digits represent that the car was ordered with custom equipment. However I have no trim tag on the car - but I don't think that it would tell you anything on the windows anyway! Let's get some more feedback.
quote:
Originally posted by Shawn:
