After almost 20 years, the 9 inch under the Monte is going to get a new center section and a brand new posi unit.
The 3.0:1 is going to be switched out for a 2.75:1,which should work just fine with the 3.27:1 first gear in the Doug Nash 4+1 5 speed.
The 2.75 center section is at my buddy’s shop right now for a thorough inspection and freshen up.
On his recommendation I’m going to have a new Eaton Truetrack installed while I’m at it.
This way we can just do a,(hopefully),quick change without having my car tied up too long.
I’m hoping that this will be the last time the 9 inch needs any major repairs.

What size rear tires are you running? Will your cam be happy at the new cruise rpm?

I would set up the other center section with 4.10 gears so you can take it to the track!!!
Why? with a steep 1st. gear a lot of times you'll be out of the powerband too quick especially with a BBC or blow the tires off. I ran a 2.73 rear gear and a 3.11 low gear Vega 4 speed back in the day. Beat a ton of cars and was super nice to drive on the freeway.
