Real 70 SS?

Hello Dogster. Look on the back of the block, on the top flange where the bell housing mates, there are codes that are cast on that area. If it is a 454 the casting # is 3963512. The date is also cast on the flange.

The trans will have the partial VIN on it also. Ask him for the codes on the trans and rear. Post the info here and we can give you more facts.

Most Atlanta built cars have a build sheet attached to the backside of the door panel.

Re: Real 70 SSLS5 with AC?

Thanks everyone. I'm waiting to hear back from the owner with the block casting number and date codes, and other questions right now. He swears its NOT an LS5 clone though. Then again, maybe he doesn't know himself, if it's not real. He's not the original owner. Then again maybe it was a 396 SS, which would explain all the SS parts he has. That would be cool too, considering the factory options, the times it runs and the price. I just looked at my email again and he says, and the pics show, that it was an AC, 4 speed though. Did they make LS5, 4 speeds with AC???
Yes, A/C was an option on the LS5 cars.
