Any help would be appreciated. I'm in discussion over the 'net with the current owner for the possible purchase of a 70 Chevelle, ex-race car, built in the 80s. Unfortunately it will take a 2800 mile flight to look at it in person. It's missing the build sheet, original trans & rear, the block has been decked, so the #s on the front engine pad are gone. He says it was a black 4 speed, SS 454. He also says the date codes on the motor match the car, although I don't have the pics yet. The interior door panels, steering wheel, seats, dash and pedal assembly looks correct, as well as the factory rims, deck lid and hood but are of course easily changed. The rear bumper is missing the SS pad. It also has a vacuum canister in the air vent well under the hood? So I was wondering if the cowl tag might shed some light on the issue...

I don't have the serial # of the car yet. Where can I find casting #s on the block to prove if it's a 70 454? Any other equipment I can tell by codes? By the way, it runs 10s. Thanks for any help!!
