I am getting a free TH350 from my father in law. It was in his 68 corvette and seemed to drive fine when in it. The mileage is unknown on it and I know he is pretty hard on his cars. My question is, should I take it into a tranny shop and have it inspected before using it? Any things that I should take a look at first? I already have a new torque converter for it but was wondering if there is anything else to check out? Thanks

Warm it up and check the fluid. If the level's good, drive it and see how it shifts. A fluid filter/change would also be a good idea if the service record is unknown.

It is already out of the car. Anything I can check while its out, would it be worth taking to a shop to have it inspected?
