Hey guys, little background first. I have a 69 Chevelle with a Mark Jones built 505 making around 660 hp. I have the rear end that currently has a 2.73 gear ratio. I took it to a transmission specialist to set up the speedo cable. I was talking to him about not getting much traction in the car. Even at 40 the car spins out when the secondaries kick in. Anyway he said if I had something like a 373 or 410 Id have better traction. I always thought that was the other way around. The lower the gear the higher the rpm, given, but also the slower the tire spins giving it more time to grip the road. He says the higher the gear, the less o a chance it has to break traction, therefore it launches you more without spining tires. Both kinda make sense, which is right??
