The Chevelle has been in the garage for about a week and a half without being started. Well last night, my 16 year old daughter called and needed a ride home from her volley ball tournament. Because there were boys there, she said" Dad don't bring your truck.Bring the Chevelle!" As most of you fathers know, our daughters usually have us wrapped around their little fingers so out came the velle! When I first started it I noticed some lifter noise but it was gone in just a second or two so I just chalked this up to sitting. Everything was fine till I put my foot into it a bit and it started making almost a backfiring noise in the exhaust.I never looked as it freaked me so bad but I think it was at about 4000 rpm it started. It was definitely not firing back through the carb. I am going to adjust the valves tonight(hyd lifters) and check for bad wires, and may even throw a new set of plugs in. Any advice on what else to look for? Definitely not the choke as carb has no choke or even a choke horn.(69 396 350hp) Thanks guys.Terry
