I was just reading Street Rodder Mag "Feb 2008" issue (why is it Feb 2008 when it is still December 2007?? That is for another post) When reading the article on patch panel replacement it said cut the new panel so that there is a 1/16 gap between the panel and the original sheet metal. then fill that 1/16 up with weld. Is that the prefered method? I thought you were suppose to crimp the patch so that it would fit under the original metal and then drill holes and weld up the holes. Any advise would be appreciated.
