Good thing he wasn't on a racetrack that requires turning. :D

Positive caster is a wonderful thing. I had the wheel slip out of my hand when I was REALLY out of shape around a big sweeper. (found the heat-limit of my Dunlops) The car countersteered itself and recovered faster and better than I could have done steering it myself. Now I understand why many professional drivers let go of the steering wheel when they have a spin. :cool:
 
Back when there was no interstate loop around Birmingham, my younger brother and I were driving from Meridian, MS to Chattanooga, TN. While going thru downtown Birmingham the steering wheel came off his 65 mustang. Didn't know that he had been working on the steering column and had not put the nut back on. He was 15 years old at the time. Couldn't get the wheel back on so he grabbed a pair of vise grips laying in the floor and used it for a steering wheel till we could find a place to pull over and fix the steering wheel. Thank goodness for power steering.
