What is it with people? Selling you stuff, ask whatever you want, its your stuff...

But recently, I keep running across cars that are for sale for a long time (several weeks or months)... And despite not selling, and no recent work, the sellers raise the asking price...

I was recently looking at a Chevelle, owner was asking $2500 (I still have an email from him, with the ad copy...

Yesterday, he posteda new ad, similar to the old ad (same pictures, same parts and about the same description), yet the asking price was $3400!

So the car didn't sell after 3-4 weeks of ads, so you raise the price by $900???

I was actually considering the car, but had some family issues... But now I see the new price...

Ands its way more than one car, I see this ALL the time (on parts too)...

I can see raising the price if you found it was low, but if you still have the car after several weeks, its pretty obvious you price was high...

I was also looking at a rebuilt 1971 402, but the engine wasn't balanced so I passed... Now, a few weeks later, the seller has a '68 396, BUT uses the SAME photos!

Okay, I feel better now...

sometimes people don't pay attention to stuff if the price is too low. They think it's cheap, in bad shape, whatever.

It's an interesting phenomenon.
I guess I pay too much attention...;)

Almost aggrevates me as much as the flippers...

I looked at one car back in late October, asking $3500, seemed a bit high for me... Dropped to $2000 and sold within an hour (because I also called back when I saw that price)... the new owner put it back for sale the next day, asking $3000 (but smart enough to use a different Craigslist Region)... it sat for a month with literally about 5+ "new" ads per week to keep it near the top... Finally dropped to $2800 asking, and the car disappeared...

A week later, the car showed up on another nearby CL region, asking $5600! Exactly double the previous price... NOTHING had been done to the car, and the seller was even using the previous seller photos (but it supposedly was sold)... As of 2 weeks ago, the car was still for sale, down to $4500... Ironic too, is that both new owners didn't fix the engine problems (it ran, but "original owner" said the carb needed rebuilding)...

Was it a 2 door Malibu?
Like the whole body had surface rust.
I think I know what ad your talking about.
3,400 is wayyyyyyyy too much for the car!
No, this is a '65 Chevelle 4-door station wagon, 283 engine and PG trans out, rust at the windshield and side windows, seat missing...
