I saw two really nice '70s this weekend, a Chevelle convertible 502/4sp, and an El Camino ZZ502/auto, both nice cars with good owners who werent shy about effort or money -- both with non-functioning flapper doors. They just hung open when idling. Why?? I'm not talking about having the whole air cleaner setup, just the flapper door working. These certainly aren't the first ones Ive seen like it, but it kinda stood out this weekend.
I've only had my CI hood since 2018 when I got my car painted, but it's fun watching that thing open and close when you get on it! Its so simple to hook up, I wonder why dont guys just put the diaphragm in and make it functional. It's one of the cooler, unique things about a 70-72.
