Red fire wall, wrong master cylinder, red floor, and so on... I just hope my suspension does not look like this one once it's finished. When buying a LS6 there are some components that must be there, if not price will dramatically be lowered. Most of this components are engine ones. Talk about 3k for a correct distributor and an alternator for 1,500.00. Sometimes it's not the price, it's that they are so difficult to find. How about redoing the fire wall and bottom...that's 2K just to do it professionaly. Hope buyer knows what he is getting into. Specially when he takes it to a show...purist will tear it appart...owner will say, "I didn't know this was supposed to be like this." Wify will be upset, too. If I ever buy a LS6 the first thing I will do is hire a LS6 expert to check it from top to bottom.

no trim rings on rims,no smog manifolds or system, master cylinder is incorrect, red painted firewall and under carriage,no tcs system, cowl induction vacuum not hooked up,wrong battery and cables, wrong shifter handle and arm, painted small circles on dash, wrong window cranks, and many other things but i will quit at this.

What bugs me about flea-bay is, if you're honest and say its a clone or not totally correct, the car is scoffed at and the bid is always way too low, even for the quality of the build. Yet these "type" of cars and sellers show up and some unknowing prospector thinks he's the only one smart enough to grab it up and the bid goes thru the roof. Who ever tagged the saying "honesty is the best policy" never sold anything on ebay.
So....should I put those 138 tags on? :noway:

Oh the scoffing only happens on E-bay? Sure seems to me that it happens here, might be that the bids on E-bay are low but the scoffing...THAT happens here !!!!!!!

There are a lot of very nice cars that are not perfect resto cars. They indeed do get scoffed and most don't deserve the lashing they get. If a car is advertised as something it is not then it should be ignored as a misrepresented car. Period.

On the other side of the coin. I wonder how many of the scoffers who can spot the wrong air in the tires have cars as nice as the cars they are soooooo ready to pick apart? What would the reaction of a " would be scoffer" be to the lashing given to his car when the car being "picked apart" belonged to him rather than to an unknown innocent bystander?

A lot of these cars (not necessarily the one pictured here) are the best some owners can do, the most they can afford or what they actually SET OUT TO BUILD from the get go. Yes this car is touted as being Magnificent and yes indeed it is not magnificent. On the other hand not everyone wants a cookie cutter correct resto and not eveyone of the non cookie cutter resto cars is advertised as a magnificently correct car.

I think the hobby would be a better place if some people made some editorial distinction based on what the car was represented as. If a buyer does not like a given car becasue the firewall is wrong or whatever then simply pass on the car and continue searching. Flogging the hell outta the car, the owner and the builder serves no purpose. The "smartest guys in the room" will always know what is wrong with the car.

If some Yoyo wants to pay north of $65K for an incorrect car so what...where is the harm except to the guy who choked up the $65K??? There is an old saying "The best deal is the deal where both parties are happy". If someone pays north of $65K for this RED (YUK) car and he is happy then so be it.

Personally I like the constructive criticism here on TC, I one day will buy an LS6 so in the interim, I want to learn as much as possible each time I read these posts. Keep up the great scoffing and lashing.
Knowledge is a great thing when dealing with these cars Les, you can never know enough. I certainly don't have the knowledge of the real experts, but I do know enough to call or ask them the right questions. In no particular order, Jeff Dotterer, Chris White, Dave Birdwell and many others here on TC, have been nothing more than great and forth coming with any information I have asked for. Among the heavyweights, I am nothing more than a "Grasshopper", but I'm learning!!!

This car has been relisted due to Ebay ending the listing because of verbiage that was used in the add.

They get verbiage correct but don't know the difference between ad and add? Nice car but lots of details wrong for
what just might be the nicest 70 Chevelle 454 LS6 on the planet!!!
with three exclamation points no less.

 And I saw quite a few of the nicest LS6/L78 cars up in Chicago last November, and they were all heads and shoulders above this car...

Good to see you again, Mike... get busy on that Flint car! :D

The Flowmaster mufflers and gloss red floor had me laughing instantly.

One of the nicest LS6 cars on the planet may very well be in Orlando, but it is not this red car. It would be Mark Strauters Blue Convertible scored 999 this weekend at Winter Nationals!

Now that's a car! Congratulations to Mark and Chris, job well done.

That's the first LS6 I spent time with this weekend. I can't imagine where he lost the point!!!! Mark's car is truly remarkable!!!!!

As long as a car is sold with a reserve, the high bid you see could come from anywhere. I'm not saying the owner and a buddy is bidding this thing up, but a reserve, be carefull.

This car has been listed several times over so if thats the case, it must not be as nice as its claimed to be in the ad. I would think if one had the nicest LS6 on the planet. You certainly would have sold it a long time ago. And likely not on fleabay.
