First off I am venturing into an area I don't know too much about. Before I started anything I wanted to get some ideas of what I can do. I have decided I want to redue the 68 Chevelle since I now have another car to use as a daily driver. A few years back I bought a 350/290hp motor from the local dealer. The same one as in this site with all the specs:

The dealer said it was 8.0:1 CR but the site says 8.5:1. I don't know who to believe. I want to build a supercharged small block. I was thinking one of the weiand blowers because I want the power throughout the rpm range and not just at high rpms. I know I'll need to change out the internals in this block I have now. Would I be better off getting another block or using this one since it is a 4 bolt main? I would like to try and get at least 450hp out of it. I want to do it right, but I am on somewhat of a budget -- permitting the wife doesn't find out how much it will really cost.
I guess my question is what do you think the best setup would be for the things I want to achieve? I plan on going with the 2004r trans and about 3.55s or 3.73s in the rear. I want this car to get up and move.
I would like to run off of 91 octane and have power disc brakes (I don't know if vacuum would be an issue or not). I hope to get at least 450 hp out of it, but preferably more. I was thinking of the weiand 144 series. Would 450+hp be possible with it or would I need something else? Would something like this be reliable? (I understand all motors are different and you may never know)?
Not as important: Would you be able to run the vintage air conditioning kits with a motor like this if I decided to? I have other questions going through my head but don't know how to ask just yet and I've got the Mexican Cruise on my mind for next week. So if I can't respond that would be why.
Thanks alot guys,
Chris
