There was another thread regarding a 144 supercharger on a 290hp crate not too lang ago. It sounded to me that it was a ok idea as long as the boost was kept low enough. How do you like the 290hp engine? I`m working a deal for a car and it has that engine in it.

sounds like a timing issue to me as well. A 750 is definatly too big, a 650 would be about right. The hesitation is most likley because you need to tun e the carb, squirter size, pumpcam, mixture. The cam is the old school 350hp 350 cam that really needs more than the 8-8.5:1 compression the engiens come with. You should still be able to tune the ignition and carb to work well.

correct me if im wrong but i believe the cam is 222/222 .450 .460 in case you were wondering.

EDIT: personally i think you should out an aftermarket set of 64cc cylinder heads on it to bump up compression and make more power. you could reach your power goals with a good set of heads, a little bigger cam and headers if you don't already have them.
your right about the cam specs mike. The advertized is probably in the mid 300`s though and i think a 114lsa. It`s a really old school grind. It`s going to take more than a set of heads to get 450hp from the engine. With 64cc heads the compression will only get to about 9.4:1 at best and that cam will never make 450hp. A set of vortecs and the GM hot cam roller cam or a similar speced hyd. rolelr would do it and would probably be cheaper than the blower it`s self.

I just came across the turbo set up and thought it could be a option. I don`t know if the 144 will clear a stock hood. I know it`ll clear a 2" cowl hood or a factory cowl hood on a 72 el camino. I`ve seen then with really short air filters to get clearance but it`s something you`ll have to measure.
