i have a 66 chevelle that the trunk lip molding (where the rubber seal goes) has rusted out, i have tried to buy one but had no luck finding one, does any one know what i can do?...cut one out of another car, what type car will be close? please help...

Sorry about the screwed-up "vvvv" post I was checking my username registration. MAX has to be in caps or it won't let me post anyway.... long story

Now that I've been here so long you've got me thinking of your problem. What part/section of your trunk weather strip channel is rotted out? Down near the tail lights, up by the hinges, where? What I'm getting at is do you need the whole channel 360 degrees or just sections. If you need the whole thing you'll probably be better off to find a 66 donor car (what about 67?) if all you need is sections you might get lucky and get the right profile of material from something else in the 66 era. Maybe an Impala? My buddy is parting a 66 Impala right now. No matter what, you've got welding in your future

well, its got rust holes(small ones)all around but its completely rusted out along the top and especially around the hinges. I have looked at Impalas they seem to have a different "curl" to them,i could use them but the corners where the hinges are, are big time different. Nova's are more similar but yet again i run into the problem that the corners are different. I have looked all over north alabama and cant find a 66-7 chevelle donor car w/ no luck. thanks for your help though.

Yo Smithy... Put an ad in the "PARTS WANTED" forum. There has to be someone out there with a donor car. That's a no-brainer ya just have to find it. How big a of hurry are you in for it? I'll put an ad in our local small free paper for a 66-67 parts car, maybe I'll get lucky and score some parts I need ta-boot.I've got 2 67's that are on the back burner, so I'm sure I'll need something for them down the road. I won't need the trunk drip rail though, so wish us luck. Max
