CURSED i say! So today is 85* here in VA. First time I've driven in any weather above 55*. Got stuck in traffic on the highway, and water temp climbed to 200*. Car sputtered a bit and stalled. I was able to coast to the shoulder, crank crank crank and fired, but was running very rough. Stalled again.. waited 5 min. crank, fired, and limped home. on the way home, i had to do the gas and foot brake a few times to keep the engine running. and a few times when i accelerated it missed/stumbled. oil pressure was fine, at 50 cruising and 20 idling. i hear no squeaking.
so i get home, put the timing light on it and it was at 16* (where i had it). i've had this happened previously before the engine rebuild where the timing jumped down to 6*.
but here at home idling in the driveway at 185* it was fine, blurped the gas and it was strong...
any ideas as to what i should check? i was hearing a faint *ting* *ting*, but haven't narrowed where that is coming from. was going to wait for the engine to cool to check the spark plugs.
NOTE: i had an overheat a couple weeks ago where my wp cracked, water temp went way up to 250*
