I dropped my engine back into the Beau last night. I had the radio on playing some old tunes, everything going great. I put the floor jack under the front end to lift it up and heard what sounded like metal popping. Looked around the car, its clear of everything, must of been hearing things. Jacked her up a bit more and POP. What the heck. Walked aroud the back and looked underneath. :clonk: There was a darn jack stand extended up a few notches right under the fuel tank. It must have got pushed under there at some point during the winter. Now I have this nice big recess in the tank. Jeez what a dummy

Just a mid winter brain cramp, I am just waiting for my big winter one. Any chance you are going to the World of Wheels show sunday in Calgary?

I am probably going Rod, just not sure which day. I have a couple friends with cars in there this year.

Jerry,
Did 'ya cuss?? Tell the truth! ;)

If it makes you feel any better...I would have.
Think of it this way...now the tank is more aerodynamic. The Chevelle will be quicker.

just think instead of 50 buck's to fill it!! now it is only 40...:D

Gosh darnit, I think I did ..................

before I got the brakes hooked up ......
I would roll the Betty out of the garage, as it slowly crept DOWN the drive, I'd place my block under the tire a little at a time....until I reached the desired point out of the garage to perform what ever task......

Welp.....I was too slow one day with the ole wood block..........
yep there she went down the street no steering wheel ...brakes....tranny...nutt'n scared the crap out of me heading toward Caddy's Volvos and the like ....I was afraid of MY CAR gett'n hurt:beers:

I did a front brake job once with a 3 ton jack and lowered the car. I pull the jack away and go to turn up the same song you probably were listening to, and BANG! The handle of the jack hit the front fender of my car causing a HUGE DENT in it.

if we could only narrow down the song.... I feel your pain brother.

Plug all of the fuel line outlets on the tank with rubber caps and hose clamps.
Find another plastic or rubber cup to cover the filler neck and attach with hose clamp. Put a small hole on the middle of it. Now put an air nozzle up to the hole and pop out the dent !

Be careful putting pressure on gas thats how a diesel works.

blumont,

if i go to world of wheels it's 100% for the minidonuts. Sad to say it's almost exactly the same year after year including 95% of the cars.

I went 3 years in a row and then i grew tired of the show.
I know what you are saying Ryan. I feel the same way, but I told my buddies I would come down and check out their cars, as if I haven't seen them before .lol.

I heard you could just throw a firecracker in & it will blow the dent right out of it........Or was tht a beercan  :D *****JUST KIDDING, DO NOT TRY THIS*******

Well, I checked a little closer, there is no hole buttttt. There sure is a nice deep inprint of the jack stand :(
I think I am going to be in the market for a new tank before spring. I know you can't see it unless you lay on the ground and look but when you know its there it can really bug a guy. Ok ,I am firing the 406 up tomorrow to break in the new cam, I sure hope I have no more boneheaded moves left, for a few days anyway. :D

How are the repo gas tanks guys??? lol
