In trying to track down a date code correct Muncie for my 70 I have learned quite a bit about these transmissions and have seen lots of main cases.
Please know that I have no intention of restamping or misrepresenting. This is my car and will probably be buried in it 'Willy Da Wimp' style. I'm just a bit anal retentive with a hint of obsessive compulsiveness. All numbers match on the car with the exception of the trans (April dated...also without a vin) and I would like to find something with an original date stamping that is close to my build date.
Most of the cases that I've looked at or talked to people about do not have a partial vin stamping. They do, however, have a date stamping.
Am I being misled or were there just a ton of 68-70 Muncie transmissions that did not get a vin stamping?
