I'm going to mount a vacuum pump, and I needed 1/4" more space for the belt drive. So I am attempting to put in a front motor plate.I'm glad I had enough cardboard for templates. One side bolted right on, the other was a challenge to fit. As of now I will rest the plate on the frame, and put the bracket/tab behind. Later if it is a wear item I will plate the frame. Any other suggestions welcome. Here is my grass shack machinist blueing(Sharpie) also. I still have to tend to contouring, and fitting the vacuum pump, but it fits the frame.

I also had a fitment problem with the engine diaper. The 21049 pan cleared everything, except when you add the diaper, and absorbent pad. So I did some work on the center link for more clearance.

I didn't think to keep adding to the same one, so far in between. If it's wanted I will next time.

It gives your build thread continuity, Mike, for those who are following along.

And it's easier to find, instead of people spending time looking for several different-named threads about the same car.

;)

Yes Mike, you do have a few followers here on the site.
Slowly but surely it is coming along. Lots of ground has been covered with your build and it is progressing nicely. One thing though, I didn't think there is a posted speed limit above 50 mph on your island. Time for digger gears and a G-suit for the day you unleash that beast!

Thank you gentlemen, I was not thinking of this as a build thread, just me putsing along in the garage. I'm not sure this can be rectified for earlier, but I'll dig this up when new installments come up.

Chris the motor plate is .250 thick, and I'm going to add a 3/16 tab/bracket welded to the frame, 2 bolts each side. I may add a mid plate at a later date, for now I'll still have solid side mounts.
If you wanted the actual weight it's 7.7 lbs as is.

Nice , Cardboard and sharpies are your friend

Got my pump, now to get spacers.

I talked to Steve at Star, and found out the pump gear can be flipped around which helped a bunch. The pump needs to come out only .820 now to line up. I have a Vintage air front runner system to put on to set where the pump will go. Now I have to find the mounting frame that I haven't seen in 4 years. I did find all of the bolts, spacers, small brackets, etc.

1/4" aluminum

#20 ·
Probably full already too. Bucket list item right there:thumbsup:

#22 ·
Damn right, if you don't mind a slow ride.

#24 ·
The plate is my idea for getting the 1/4" spacing needed for the belt drive, and also to mount the vacuum pump. The Vintage air system takes up, or blocks all of the front mounting holes. The plate will hopefully also take some stress off of the side mounts. The headers are already made so no benefit there. In the future I may add the mid plate,

When I get all of my clutch linkage lined out I have plans of adding "ears" to the block plate.

#28 ·
Thank you, something to consider if I run into difficulties with effort or the linkage.

#30 ·
Well I welded in the frame tabs for the front plate. Now I have to use my nonexistent machining skills to to get my AC lines to clear the plate to assemble the front runner system.

Why do people insist on starting a thread with ABSOLUTELY NO INFO in the title! Not a year, model, part hint . . . nothing!

-

I'm a moderator on a gun forum, and we get idiots there! Typical crap titles:

FTF! WTF?

Price question?

Stock info.

Ammo question?

Where to shoot?

-

Not a hint to what actually may be a pertinent question or problem! So everyone has to waste time seeing if they can learn from the thread, add to the thread, or realize it was a waste of time viewing it!
Wouldn't it have been faster to just post a thread with this title . . .
?
-
It's big, bold and still doesn't give a hint as to the actual subject!, like your OP !!!! AND it will generate more views!!!!!!!!!!
-

Am I old, uptight and anal? Maybe.

Am I considerate to others? I try to be.

Rant over! :frown2:

Your bitching with things in your info like, Location : Between Sin city and Death valley.
He did state what was going on ( further progress )
Besides any body that has any interest in the build will see( aukai ) and know what it concerns.

I run out of room saying I have a 1970 Chevelle that I have owned for 20+ years that started out as a 454 4 spd, then a Richmond 5 spd, that used to run 11.50s, but now has a 572, and I have notched the frame, new tubs, 10 point cage, added new suspension, rear end, transmission, and I already got reprimanded by the moderators here for not having a build thread that you could have followed a few hundred posts of.

#35 ·
Then post a build thread.

Nothing wrong with a following on your build. But don't keep everyone guessing just to get views.

I've had mine for over 35 years, just a small block, lots o' minor alterations, and I'm not really into horsepower! To each their own.

My complaint was that the title didn't give any clue! Go fast . . . I'm not interested. Flames over a deep lacquer base . . . I'm in! (I'm using extremes, but you should get the idea.)

Some performance things I look at. Others don't even come close to my applications. Carb vs. EFI. Auto vs. stick. Low vs.ugly.

Just can't see wasting people's time for something they have no interest in.

#36 ·
Well I guess you know now not to click on threads with my name attached.

keep up the work Mike. I am so close to getting mine done but yet so far away lol I have a build thread on the other site so I did not bother setting one up here. I should have mine going in the next day or two will get a video up when I do of me breaking in my 3yr old hoosiers lol.>:)
