How soon do you need to know? Here's the deal. Have a Ede AirGap Rec Port on mine right now with a 1/2" spacer, which should net 5.75" at the carb base. Air cleaner base has been modified to provide 1.5" drop. My 14 x 3" air cleaner just lets the hood close. I am actually heading down to the shop in a few minutes to swap (attempt to swap) a TeamG single plane with a carb flange height same as the VicJr. If I can't get the hood to close, what I may end up doing is either shim the core up, possibly shim the body up and/or mod the bracing on the hood a little. Not sure yet, but will post back later today / tomorrow.

Just up from the garage, here's the verdict. It fits - but takes a couple minor mods. Intake I am using is Weiand 7622, same height as VicJr at 5.96 frt/rr. Carb is Holley 4781 c/w choke horn. Air cleaner has 1.5" drop base and conventional Chevy domed lid. Mods I made were simple. Car has been painted, hood is on the car. Air cleaner lid will hit at three points of the bracing - two sides and the rear. Rear, I used a cut off wheel to cut two notches about 6" apart, then flattened the point down with a body hammer. Sides, you just need to flatten it very little, again, I did mine with a body hammer. Probably could have just flattened the rear point. If/when I get a chance, will probably pull the hood and trim that raised portion of the brace completely down nice and neat. If running a HP style carb (assume you will seeing as how you are looking at a SV1 (?), you might be able to run a 2" drop base and not modify the hood at all, although, 2" drop base might choke it. Will share this, I am playing with a Spectre 728 fresh air kit. Right now have the inlets ducted just below the core. Someone will chime in and flame away, but - Reason? With the bigger motor ( and in my case car has factory AC), air temps under the hood are unbearable. Motor doesn't run hot, stays a constant 180, but open that hood and it's an oven under there. May or may not help, but thoughts were it's try this to egt some lower inlet air temp in there or replace the hood wiith a cowl hood. FWIW, I did look into a cowl hood (Goodmark steel hood). It will definitely gain hood clearance, but you are left with the same issue, unless that hood is sealed, the motor still only gets air from the radiator.

Good luck with your build.
