My M21Y has two broken ears, both on the top. Why this happend only after 5,000 miles on a total rebuild, I'm not sure as I don't beat this car at all. Should I have them welded up or should I go to a new muncie super case since the new BB 454 motor is going to be putting out 550+ HP and Torq? Thanks for your input in advance.

Repair it..forget the Go Fast Speed Racer stuff. You say you don't beat the car...you don't need a bullet proof case. Waste of money for the street.

Aluminum is easy to repair. Find a good welder ...make sure that the new ears are machined flush with the case front or you are gonna have more cracks.

Try Jerry McNeish www.z28camaro.com. They do GREAT aluminum repair.

Pretty sure it will cost you more than $50 IF you can find someone to fix the case right. Seems like you would be way ahead of the game to just get a supercase. I don't think anyone has adressed the reason WHY the case failed. I wouldn't think this would happen if everything else was "right".

I know, it's all that HP and torque that broke the ears off:noway::noway::noway:

Could it be wheel hop???

Jody, I sent you a PM and left a voice mail! I need a Muncie Supercase.

Ok guys after further evaluation the ear has cracked through the case and gear oil is leaking out. Looks like I need a new case after all. Better to fix it right now than pay twice as much later. The case was used when I got it. I just had all the internals replaced so the cracks could have been there when I installed it....never really looked closely back then.

My case has a broken ear when I got it, the ear was nowhere to be found. Supercase was the answer. Rebuilding the thing - that's another story. Have the kit but afraid to try it.

I have a supercase. I've found that going the "cheap" route usually ends up costing more in the long run. And a supercase isn't that much anyway: $265.00.

Pretty cheap for this hobby, IMHO.

But I guess it depends on what you are going to do with the car, on how hard you drive it.
