We went from Maryland to Indy for the PRI show in December and averaged about 19 and I bet we were not less than 75 mph most of the way. I would guess that the Tahoe weighs in at close to 5000 lbs, so it has the Roadmaster covered, not to mention that it has the aerodynamics of a brick

Mine will pretty much smoke the tires in low gear if you smack it good. I am not sure what the hp rating is on the Vortec compared to the LT1. I would stick with the 4.11's if you have them, you can always change later. If youo are going to buy a complete assembly, then go with the 3.73's.
sunds like you got yourself a nice combo there man, the 56 will look sweet.

what year is your truck? our 96 tahoe would do the same thing, about 20mpg, had 265/75/16's n it, 3.42 posi rear, and the AOD and do 70 at 2000. the 90-95's were rated 210hp, 96-99's i think, are 260hp, and 2000-04 is like 285. thats all from a votec headed sb. the LT1 should and will have more power than that, and get pretty good milage and run strong. the 96's had about 320lbft tq and the newer styles have about that i think.
