OK this is the wife's car(FWD) and I need to keep her happy.. It has a LOUD rattling noise or like some bolts in a tin can. With a hose to my ear I thought it was coming from the water pump,, after 5hrs of headache and cursing I fired the little rice bag up and it still had the noise.
It still sounds like it is coming from the water pump ,, So after looking around a bit more I got in the car with it running, I turn on the AC and the noise stopped,, Turn it off and the noise returns.
I've never messed with the internal parts on a compressor,, So any help would be grateful. Thanks, Joey

best advice for compressors is to take it to an auto AC guy, because it sounds like the clutch is going out, maybe other parts.
Not gonna kid you, if you dont have the parts to disassemble, vacumm and recharge system by the time you have bought all these things, you need the parts. Take it to a mechanic.

that way you pay once, get a new compressor and keep da woman happy. which allows you to work your projects... yeh the world is good.

my GF says= I work overtime, so she can go shopping so if shes happy then Im happy, which is why I work overtime,,,

BUT SHE sez- I buy parts so I can get ready to finish my project- kewl world

Sounds like the clutch is bad. Pull the belt off and spin the pulley to see how that feels. Your best bet is to just replace the compressor, even though they are usually not cheap.
