Looking for Quality Shop in Phila./Wilm. Area to Install 6 point.

I'm looking for a good quality shop in the Phila./Wilmington area to put in a 6 point roll bar fabed from chromemoly and swing out bars in my '67.

I really want to maintain the stock appearance of the interior as much as possible. It's important that I retain the use of my stock arm rest, window cranks and door handles. I would think it would be a shop that would want the interior intact upon arrival for measurements and such. I'd also be looking to maintain maximum trunk space and have the rear bars run snug to the sail panels and above the quarter windows before turning down.

If anyone knows a good place, I'd appreciate some names. Thanks!!

Go with Rhodes and ask for Ron................he did my Chevelle and did a fantastic job. You can check out my car anytime to see the quality of work. Tell him Tony Z with the Red 70 SS Chevelle sent you.

Thanks,

Bob F., Thanks for the PM.

GRN69, That sounds good. Hopfully it's running in March. I'll be dropping in the engine/trans and fabbing up the exhaust in next couple weeks.

Sid & Tony, I'll check out Rhodes. They have a nice site. What do you know about their prices?

Bob T., Thanks, have you used them? Know if they'll take the car interior intact?

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

I'll be honest, Ron isn't cheap, but I wouldn't do it any other way. After having someone previously work on the car, paying decent money and having to do it over again cause they wouldn't stand behind thier work, you realize it's worth the extra dollars to have it done right the first time. I spent a whole lot more to do it twice, plus all the stress and anguish of having a car you aren't happy with in the first place. That's worth more money that you realize.

Ron will stand behind his work and do whatever it takes to make you happy.

Thanks,

Tony

FWIW, my cousin's car is an unmolested original 68-all factory steel on it. My cousin did remove the interior & glass prior to geting the cage installed, but from what I've heard, Ron did a GREAT job on it. I'm going over on Friday to check out the car.

Tony, this is his: http://gallery.godragracing.com/gallery/cecil4_1_06/IMG_8385

I think my cousin pulling the glass & interior was to help expedite the job. Took about 2-3 weeks, but he also made sure the car was NHRA certified (certifiable?) to (I think) 8.50s. Since he's done a best of 9.8x, a good idea.

Ron also worked with him previously on getting his suspension tuned a bit.

Ron did a shop tour video about a year ago that my car was in and I'm pretty sure your cosuins car was in it too.............I hope he saw it. I've seen it at Cecil and it's a VERY clean car!

Thanks,

Tony

Hey Pro, I'd pull the rear glass. It makes it alot easier for paint and to cut the holes through the package tray.

Good luck

Thanks Tony, yep that's it! Was yours the red 70?

Saw the car last night-WOW!!! That man can make some NICE welds!! The way he bent the bars, the car is actually easier to get in & out of than it was with the old setup. Top notch work too-he reinforced the frame where the bars come in too! I can't wait to see the car at the track this year-think chassis flex will be a thing of the past!

Money well spent IMO! If anyone needs pictures, I'll ask my cousin if I can take a few shots.

Sid,

That's my red 70.............still a work in progress!

Glad you like Ron's handiwork..........I knew you would.........my car came out so nice I repainted the exterior to match the quality of the chassis.......now that's sayin somethin!

Post a few pics when you get a chance..........I'm sure some members would like to see how nice the car and cage are!

Thanks!

Don't know a shop in your area, but I had the same parameters and this is what mine looks like:

bars go down into package tray through the trunk to the frame.

Actually, the car is home now and I've slowly been putting it together. Like I said, if you want to come look at it, you are more than welcome. Just contact me and set up a time. I live outside of Newark on Route 7 near the PA line.

Thanks!
