I have been told i should use locking header bolts for my 454. I have Heddman Elite headers with a flange that is 3/8" thick and the threads on my heads seem to be 3/8" diameter and 1/2" deep. I see both 3/4" and 1" length so I guess I need the 1" ers. 3/4" seems too short. I have only found the stage-8 locking bolts listed on Jegs. Any suggestions on what I should use and does the 1" length sound right?

I appreciate all the help I get on this board even if my questions seem relatively simple. OCD.......:) thx -Bob

I cant comment on locking bolts, but after 2 or 3 retightening's,regular header bolts dont usually come loose.

I use studs with fine threads on the outer end, and a serated flange nut. Never an issue after doing this.

I don't have an oppinion on your length but I have the Stage8's on my SBC and we put them on my Pop's SBC as well. From now on all of my engines will have them.

mine have never come loose at all...they do have header bolt lockwashers if you have an issue...
