man the ladder bars on my 69 make the launch hard but it rides like complete S^%$ even with 3 way adjustable shocks i cant win , will boxing the control arms make it launch hard with out shaking my teeth out of my face on the way home or will i be sacraficing launch?

Exactly why I don't like ladder bars. Had 2 cars with them, and had the same results. You can add boxed lowers with new bushings, rear air bags,and/or new rear springs and have a much better ride quality, and probably as good or better launch characteristics. I do love the look of ladder bars under a car though, especially if it sits up high.

Ladderbars work. They're definitely harsh, too, but they'll stop any kind of wheeelhop you had. Replacing bushings and and control arms doesn't make up for the fact that the A-body rear suspension creates tons of wheelhop on launch....it's a poor design for drag racing. By far the best bang for the buck would be something like Lakewood No-Hop bars--something similar is also made by Edelbrock. These raise the upper control arm mounting points which eliminates wheelhop, and gives a stock smooth ride.
