REALLY? and you tried this back to back on what? Taking into consideration that it will be the last air filter you have to buy is worth something.

I removed a 3" paper element air cleaner from my car and picked up two tenths running no air cleaner at all on my old 454. I am now running a 14x5 KN filter and there is no difference when I remove the air cleaner. The base of the air cleaner makes a diffence too. A drop base air cleaner is worth more than a flat base, it straightens the air out going into the carb.

The old 454 ran low 12's, high 11's, dont think it was 50hp, maybe 20hp diff paper vs no air cleaner. A dyno is not the same as a car going down track at 100+ mph. I have run my car as is with the KN and without, no gain.
