Going to look at a block tomorrow. Suppose to be good, no cracks, and standard. He also has a couple of 6223 cranks and some 3/8" and 7/16" dimple rods. Any idea of a good price for the block? What about the crank? And the rods? He also has a Mach and April of 65 961 blocks. Do these have the thicker cylinder walls. Thanks.

Bare 2 bolt std block. 100-125 tops. 6223 crank if its std or .10/.10 and ready to go 175-200 tops if it needs cut 75-100. The dimples are a matter of preferance you can buy aftermarket rods ready to go for what you have in just rounding the big end and installing new bolts. As for the thicker walls NO. But you can have it sonic tested and check I have heard of some 396 blocks being bored to a 427 but I have not done it. I have easly gone 60 over with zero issues.... Good luck

Thanks, the crank was ready to, just in from the machine shop. paid $175. 1-/10 Also Paid $175 for the rods. Original paint still on rods. Not many good 961 blocks around here. Been sitting around 40 yrs. No work on deck and deck looked perfect. Assembly plant perfect. Was still standard with a ridge at the top. Had been painted black a long time ago and then about 1/8" of grease on the cylinder walls, mains, cam bearing. Every bolt hole full of dust from the years, all good, no coils. Scraped off some dirt grease in all cylinders and no rust underneath. Not the original block for my car; but date correct for my car. But who know, what will show up when It's checked. .
