Did 67s with powerglide, come with floor shift and bench seat? If I cannot find good buckets, I will consider keeping the bench, but would like to move gearshift from column to floor? Did they come with the option?

To answer your question no they did not have such an option. If you want a console you will pretty much have to install bucket seats. Shouldnt be too hard to find a set of 67 buckets. Both 66 and 68 are similar.

No.....its not hard. It's more $$$$ that's all. Lol Im struggling with what people want for their used torn, rotting buckets!

Ditch the idea of a floor console and stay with the 4 speed stick and bench seat...My buddies 69 has a stock 4 speed with a bench...

If your going to get serious about a fast street ride the Turbo 400 is the only way to go. Besides, with 4oo cubes or more you don't need a bunch of over lapping gears because the power band is twice as long as the little engines those five and six speeds were designed for.. The best shifter also shifts the best and looks the best, the Hurst Auto Stick 1.. It bolts to the transmission and has solid linkage. Then screw in a shifter porch and put the in mount the boot and you have the best set up... It looks just like a Hurst four speed because it uses the same handle as the four speed..
Keep the rear end ratio 3.08 or under, I like 2.73. with a nice big tight converter to double my torque output..
My car is so much fun going through the gears manually with the feel of a four speed stick but no clutch hassle, you know the old lady who stops right on your bumper on a steep hill..

I'm liking this A LOT! Where did you get it, and did "porch" come with it?
There may be an issue though, I bet this is not for a powerglide? 🤔

if a find a deal on a muncie and bellhousing, I could be persuaded
That shouldnt be too hard either. Lots of guys yanking their 4 speeds and going with overdrive trans,
I mean no disrespect to anyone with an automatic transmission but this love affair with the automatic transmission is something that is embraced by pretty much only people in America. Go to Europe and see the ratio of manuals to automatics. True Muscle cars have three pedals,

I don't doubt what you're saying. It also depends what the intended use of the car is. For instance: guys with street/strip cars usually prefer an auto trans since autos tend to make for more consistent launches due to the fact that's very difficult to let the clutch pedal out the exact same way for every starting line launch. But for pure street cars, circle track cars, and road coarse cars, manual transmissions are not only more fun, but also have their advantages.

I believe that in many countries in Europe, drag racing isn't nearly as popular as it is here in the USA, and there are euro countries that don't even have any drag strips at all.So I'm pretty sure that has a whole lot to do with the auto/stick ratio being different in Europe. My understanding is that in Sweden, drag racing on the street is very popular. So I wonder if auto transmissions are slightly more popular over there compared to their neighboring nations. I bet Marcus (" Malibu SS 64") would have something to say about that.

just crack open the wallet, buy a repop or a used 621 bell housing, a 10 spline m20 muncie, bolt it to your 283 and enjoy it! your driveshaft and cross member will swap right over. only welding you need to do is the z bar bracket on your frame. rest of it is a bolt in and can be done easily in a weekend. jim

Ahhhh....so there IS welding involved. This may be dumb question, if I get someone who knows how to weld, how do we know where to weld this Z bracket?

Well once the rotating ball (engine side) is against the block there is only one place it can go and still be able to actuate the clutch fork.

Will this this shifter setup fit on a powerglide?

koosh22, I have heard they made them for the PG (cant verify) but I've never seen one. I've only seen TH350/400's. Just checking online, dang they've gotten expensive. Not much to them and would be interesting if there was a market for someone to produce them.
