is it possible to remove the clutch fork without pulling the bell housing?

i lost the clutch the other day and had to start off with the starter from the lights. ( coulden't disengage the clutch) on inspection i found that the fork was cracked almost in half. we welded it up to get home. now what? the really strange thing was that i can't loosen the pivot ball and the fork is using the bell housing as a folcrum???

thanks john

Can you just take off the adjustment pushrod, and hit the fork with a hammer on the end to knock it off the ball stud? Then pull it out. It shouldnt be using the bell housing as a fulcrum. Perhaps I dont understand what you mean. THe fulcrum should be the ball stud and there should be space between the throwout bearing/clutch fingers and the bell housing.

Re: is it possible to remove the clutch fork without pulling the bell housing?

while the fork rests on the ball, the outside of the fork (outside of the bell housing) is almost hitting the flange of the bell housing (where the dust cover plugs in) when i depress the clutch it does hit the flange. i know i'll have to replace the fork. i was just looking for an easy way out. eaiser to remove the trans from the housing or the housing from the engine? can it be changed either way? thanks john

Are you trying to do it without taking the trans out? You can't without breaking the fork and you can't get the new one on.
