Hi all. Well, I have a overheating issue but is somewhat different than what most people experience. At idle, my 540 will run around 190-195. But after you cruise it for oh 15 to 20 minutes at 55mph, it shoots up to 220-225. I have an alumitech radiator, twin spal fans, hi flow water pump, bypass, and a hi flow 160 thermostat. I tried a 180 and 195 thermostat and it really made no difference. But there seems to be quite a few knowledged cooling people on here and I hope that maybe I am on the right track to fixing it. My exhaust consist of 1 7/8" sanderson streetrod headers and 2 1/2" exhaust out the back with 70 series flowmasters. My bend on the drivers side exhaust that connects the header is very constricting. I am having some other issues with this motor that may be dealing with back pressure and I am thinking the exhaust is the reason for my overheating once the drivetrain gets a good heatsoak from cruising. I think I am going to drop the pipes and give it a drive sometime this week. When I run the A/C, it get up around 240 real quick. Am I thinking this could be the problem or am I reaching? I am losing no fluid and everything appears to be fine. At the track we can keep the temps down to 170-180 so I feel the cooling system is in order. Any and all replies are appreciated as always.
