While the engine is out, I’d like to replace the brake line that runs left to right at the front crossmember. Is this kit good?

Just make sure the SS fittings are perfectly square. They will not pull in and seal like OEM materials. I use a long socket to “finesse” the fittings when required.

Maybe a little more care is required for SS. But it looks awesome and lasts forever. Have exclusively used it for brake and fuel lines on my Chevelle, 2 Vettes and a 2003 Avalanche.

Considering the difficulties associated with stainless I'm thinking mild steel may be the better choice. True the steel may not be of the same quality of years past but considering the pampered use of most classics the mild steel will probably out live all of us.
That being said I did use stainless steel lines from Inline Tube on a Silverado (all the lines) and did not have any issues. Inline Tube may sell OK products but their employees I found to be some of the most despicable people of any I've ever dealt with. Pray you dont have any issues with their product.

is that the vendor or the SS lines?

SS gets such a bad wrap. Honestly, it’s mainly because installers think it seals exactly like OEM (get it close and over torque it to seal). If it’s not square… it will likely leak.

do it correctly like I suggested and it will seal properly
