I think, on my 69, the 12ga PINK wire from the ign. switch located at lower steering column connector goes to firewall, to power up iginition (not the purple wire from clutch pedal switch). I replaced the old "resistor" coil wire from firewall engine side with 12ga to my ign. box. i think.

I don't think the wiper will have power when ign. switch is in start pos.
Probably you need the old coil wire from the firewall to power your box. It's the one coming off the firewall bulkhead connector engine side, the wire next to the orange heater wire. I replaced mine instead of using the thin "resistor" wire which went to the old coil. Check out 1badss396 pic.
