I am so tired of reading ads that are misleading or incorrect I have decided to start a movement for truth in advertising.

1. A clone. A clone is an exact duplicate of another version of the same car. If you are cloning a 70-72 then it better have everything including the right dash. If it doesn't you cannot all it a clone. You cannot clone an earlier version Chevelle SS as the VIN is wrong.

2. A tribute car. This only applies when "cloning" what is referred to as a supercar, I.E. Yenko, Baldwin Motions etc.. If its a regular SS its not a tribute car its a clone.

3. Survivor. Survivor means one thing and one thing only, all of the car is original. That means if it has a replacement engine, new paint or new interior it is NOT a survivor, unless the repaint is 25% or less of the car.

4. All cars that add SS parts like grills, emblems, hood etc will from here on out be referred to as Cosmetic Copies.

5. We don't care how much money you invested in the car, there is a real value not what you put into it. Just because I sink 100K in a Pacer does not make it worth 100K.

6. It has A/C. If the a/c doesn't work or the parts are missing it does NOT have a/c. It had a/c but it does not HAVE a/c.

7. Don't tell me how much it will be worth on Barrett jackson unless you bought it from Barrett Jackson. Just because a car got a certain price there does not mean YOUR car is even close. This includes those people who say their junky rust bucket will bring big bucks so they want big bucks before you even start to fix it.

7. If the car did not come red, unless your wife or girlfriend HAD to have a red car then paint it the color it was. I am soooo tired of looking at red cars in ads. And if the interior is green don't paint it red or blue, that means I have to change the paint or the interior, so deduct 6 grand from the price.

What else bugs you?????????

I should have added one more thing for the ebay auction guys.

If you have a reserve start the price within 25% of what you hope to get. Don't start it at $1000 hoping the bids get to 30K. Better yet put a buy now price in even if that price is 10-15% above your reserve!

I must have missed it, when were the exact rules and definitions of selling cars made? Who got to make them, I would have liked an opportunity to voice my opinion.

My opinion? My opinion is call it whatever the hell you want. Tribute, clone, restomod, I don't care. If the potential buyer is dumb enough to buy a car without looking at it and forming his own opinion, then he is dumber than the guy that wrote the ad. What someone calls a clone, you may call a tribute. Whats the diffrence? You say a clone is an exact reproduction of another car. How can you have an exact reproduction of another car, when the factory didn't hardly build two cars the same way? If people want to get picky about the definition of the word clone, then we better stat excepting reproduced VIN numbers, trim tags and serial numbers. Seriously, if someone is going to be so picky that he is going to put a definition to the word clone as it applies to cars, then that car better be exactly, down to the numbers a ripoff of another car.

No offense intended, but I would love to have your life, as I have no room in my life to get worked up over what someone else decides to call their car.

Sorry, but what bugs me is when people tell me I need to paint my car the original color or leave the interior the original color.

My project is a true 67 SS vert which was originally gold on gold with a powerglide. The only thing I hate worse than gold exterior is gold interior.

So, it may go red with black interior and keep the 4 speed someone put in it, because I am the one that is restoring it and I want it to look the way I like it. I know one thing it's not going back Gold and it will have Black interior (yes I know it will be hot).

Ironically, the 68 Camaro that I sold was Gold on Gold also. I bet most people agree it looked much better Silver with Black interior. Even the 67 Elky we are using for a parts car was Gold on Gold. How many friggen cars were Gold on Gold back then, I can't get away from them.

Nice collection of cars you have there. I'm officially jealous. ;)

There all my cousin's except the 67 vert. Yeah, I am a little jealous also. He is keeping the 69 Camaro vert and 69 Z28. The rest he is selling.

Interesting story on Z28. He bought it as a parts car for the 69 vert along with a 67 Camaro for 500 bucks. The sheetmetal was almost perfect. No motor of course. The driver's side fender has 396 emblems, the rest were Z28. When he bought it, he said to the previous owner looks like someone tried to clone a Z28. I noticed the emblems and asked if he ran the numbers. He said No because then he would have to find more sheetmetal for his 69 vert and would have to restore another one. I ran the numbers and it is a real Z28. How lucky.

I'm at a loss of how to categorize my farmer's field survivor. Judging by it's transformation from a rusty lump to it's now new steel and solid status, I would have to say it's a tribute to my dedication to this project.

I'm cloning my wannabe SS to a likeness of the common hack jobs and imitations present during the early '80's when I had my first inappropriately SD badged Beaumont.

It does, however, have A/C delco spark plugs and brake shoes, but it does not have air conditioning or a heater for that matter. I just love the Red battery cable though...it's really a nice red.

As you can see, this is a very distressing situation to me.

I guess I'll just have to call it.....My '68 Chevelle. :D

Ohhh...and dont forget " I reserve the right to end auction early " What does that mean...? If ebay charged a couple thousand dollar " end auction early " fee i wounder if that would still go on. Not just cars but parts too. Now you cant charge a thousand dollars on a 100 dollar part , but you get what i mean. And one more thing, most cars are put on there i think for SHOCK VALUE. Its Ebay auction not end early Ebay. Ok off my soap box for now....

I'm in a world of hurt as far as your view on what a car is supposed to be then ......

its a SURVIVOR of 40 years of Daily driving !! yes it has the original motor although it sports many performance mods , intake ,carb, cam H.E.I. , K&N air cleaner Corvette Lt1 valve covers .. AN the original PG is sitting in the garage ....the th 350 is much more drivable the 10bolt needed more money to repair then I could replace it with a 12 bolt ... SO ...some where MANY MANY years ago it was painted RED instead of the Teal metallic that it came with .... the Inside was & still is black ... Factory A/C yes it works ..P/S ,PDB 4 piston originals with S/S sleeves.. plenty of Factory parts that were performance updates it came with 14"ralleys which grew into 15x8s ... F 41 swaybars & springs quick ratio steering box U-14 inst panel all the correct harness's to make it work ...Headers & 2 1/2" pipes ...it doesn't have any CLONE parts on it .. as far as looking at it all the Emblems they are as the factory intended other then the paint ...... I call it a day 2 Survivor !! as it has been in service an current on license fee's an tags its whole life
maybe I should call it stock with 40 years of service replacement parts ;) ??

IF IT'S CLONE, WHY YOU CARE IF THE SHIFTER LENS IS WRITTEN IN WHITE OR GREEN

2. A tribute car. This only applies when "cloning" what is referred to as a supercar, I.E. Yenko, Baldwin Motions etc.. If its a regular SS its not a tribute car its a clone.
WHAT ABOUT A TRIBUTE CAR THATS A "TRIBUTE TO THE WAY YOU'D BUILD IT .IF YOU HAD THE MONEY TO DO SO. IN 1970..(EXAMPLE)

3. Survivor. Survivor means one thing and one thing only, all of the car is original. That means if it has a replacement engine, new paint or new interior it is NOT a survivor, unless the repaint is 25% or less of the car.
WHAT ABOUT THE CAR WITH A WARRANTY ENGINE THATS ALL ORIGINAL OTHER THAN THAT..

4. All cars that add SS parts like grills, emblems, hood etc will from here on out be referred to as Cosmetic Copies.
WHY NOT RESTOMOD. THATS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS..

5. We don't care how much money you invested in the car, there is a real value not what you put into it. Just because I sink 100K in a Pacer does not make it worth 100K.
IT HELPS BUYERS UNDERSTAND WHY ,THE SELLER THINKS HIS JUNK IS WORTH ASK'N PRICE

6. It has A/C. If the a/c doesn't work or the parts are missing it does NOT have a/c. It had a/c but it does not HAVE a/c.
ALL CARS HAVE A/C ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS

7. Don't tell me how much it will be worth on Barrett jackson unless you bought it from Barrett Jackson. Just because a car got a certain price there does not mean YOUR car is even close. This includes those people who say their junky rust bucket will bring big bucks so they want big bucks before you even start to fix it.
WHY THESE BOTHER YOU.. IF THE CAR IS NOT WORTH IT. DON'T BUY IT.. SIMPLE

7. If the car did not come red, unless your wife or girlfriend HAD to have a red car then paint it the color it was. I am soooo tired of looking at red cars in ads. And if the interior is green don't paint it red or blue, that means I have to change the paint or the interior, so deduct 6 grand from the price.

NOT EVERYONE LIKES THE STOCK COLOR.. SOME DON'T CARE THAT IT'S NOT THE FACTORY PEASOUP PAIN CODE..
YOU DON'T WANT A RED CAR, PASS OVER THE AD..
I WANT A CHEVELLE,BUT THE ONE I FOUND WAS GREEN.. I SHOULD PAINT IT GREEN, BECAUSE Y O U SAY SO!!!!!!!!!!!

What else bugs you?????????
PEOPLE THAT FORGET THAT THESE THINGS ARE CCCCCCCAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRSSS
AND THAT THIS IS A H O B B Y ...

PEOPLE THAT THINK.. IF IT DIDN'T COME FROM THE FACTORY.. IT'S WRONG TO AD IT..

Now I'm in trouble. I want to paint my car back to its original code 52/52 Red. (Someone repainted it silver) But I don't want to paint it "resale red" if I don't intend to sell it. But what if I do decide to sell it. People will think I only painted it red to sell.
Now my head hurts!!!!

Something that I have been hearing over and over again is "By the way it has a Vette motor". There couldn't be that many Vette motors out there??????

bitchy people that try to tell others what to do!!! Thats y i am getting more and more into hot rods.

4. All cars that add SS parts like grills, emblems, hood etc will from here on out be referred to as Cosmetic Copies.

Ok, I guess my car would've been considered this since it did have a domed hood and a blacked grille, which were on the car when I got it, but never did I put on the SS emblems because that's what everyone else does.

6. It has A/C. If the a/c doesn't work or the parts are missing it does NOT have a/c. It had a/c but it does not HAVE a/c.

Not true. If the car has all of the a/c stuff in tact, then it has a/c but if the a/c does not work you should list it as "it has an air conditioner but the air conditioner does not work".

If I were looking to buy a car with a/c I'd take one with a complete but inoperable system as opposed to a car that didn't come with a/c factory or worse had it removed.

7. If the car did not come red, unless your wife or girlfriend HAD to have a red car then paint it the color it was. I am soooo tired of looking at red cars in ads. People paint cars red because it's a popular color to attract buyers. While I appreciate a car with it's original paint color on it, keep in mind most people don't find pea soup green all that attractive, and that was a very common color on the late 60's/early 70's Chevy cars.

What else bugs you?????????
When people say "it was owned by a grandma who only drove it on Sundays"....an overused line. Or "you won't find one nicer"....yeah ok.

Speaking of EBAY the one biggest single thing that pisses me off is ads that say

" Plug Wires for Camaro ,Chevelle ,Corvette Nova, RS,SS,RS SS, Ralley Sport, Super Sport, Rally Sport-Super Sport, BBC,SBC,BIG BLOCK CHEVY,SMALL BLOCK CHEVY,
