This article was on MSN this morning. Just putting it out there to see if they are right. I did not think that the round gauge dash was mandatory in a true SS car, but they say it is. What do the experts here say?? Don?t Be Fooled: How To Spot A REAL 1970 Chevelle SS
1971-Chevelle
There are lots of indicators for a true 70SS. On the immediate surface, ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 70SS cars came with a BB (396 or 454), NO SB SS in 70. Period. ALLLLLLLLLLLLL 70SS cars also came with a 12bolt rear (posi was an option) and dual exhaust. Period. ALLLLLLLLLLLLL 70SS cars came with round openings in the dash with idiot lights (gauges were optional). ALL other 70 Chevelles came with the sweep speedometer as standard equip.
