Once I've verified that the system has no leaks, I've always pulled a vaccum on it for several hours. Everything is new or refurbished in the system, loaded with the correct oil charge. I'm wondering if 4-5 hours is too long. I know it won't hurt anything, but just may be wasted time.

An hour should be plenty of time.

i recently replaced the condenser in my toyota and the spec sheet said hold vacuum for 30 mins.

When I did collision repair, 20-30 minutes.

1 hour if it's just a repair, 2 hours of the system has been open longer. Good luck!!

i normally just let it hold a vacuum for as long as i can, i mean within reason. i doubt i have ever let one sit for longer than a hour. I only work on our fleet stuff, and my cars.
