what "key" things jump out at you about this particular car?
i mean, come on, he has the owner's manual, so it has to be all original..

even though he's touting "HEAVY CHEVY" status, he might even be wondering.

he isn't (by heavy chevy levels and condition) asking "HEAVY CHEVY", $. a decent chevelle of any year brings that kind of $ in socal. i think he even might doubt it, thus asking a pretty fair price for a pretty decent looking ride. even if it's a clone, it's a pretty nice ride.....

it might be a heavy, but in its current trim it would either have had a lot of dealer/owner installed up dates, like carpeting and the steering wheel. Or the interior was trashed and redone with a malibu/SS kit. No-one repops the Heavy's 300 trim door panels. The door panels, steering wheel, and carpeting are not consistent with a Heavy. I can forgive the carpet, that was often installed by dealers on heavys back in the day. A good friend of mine bought a new Heavy in 72 and the dealer installed carpet, mag wheels, air shocks and door edge and wheel trim to it before he took delivery. The steering wheel and door panels were less likely installed by a dealer. If someone wanted Malibu trim they would more than likely upgrade to a malibu.

I'd guess about 9 out of 10 real Heavy Chevy cars restored today get Malibu interiors... I know I'd rather have a nice interior than a "correct" one that's in shambles, and good "Heavy" interior parts don't come cheap.

Check this out

How does a car win shows for being an original "rare" car when there are key things that INSTANTLY tell you it isn't what they claim it to be!? Have they ever seen the door panels on a heavy chevy!?

It doesn't say it won shows for being an original "rare" car. It says he won for a stock class, I have seen many diffrences at car shows on what makes it into a stock class. Many around here allow cars into stock class as long as the car is restored using parts that would have been stock, just not neccesarily on that car when it was built.

Also the auction clearly states what would have been on an original Heavy Chevy and what changes he made when it was restored. It states things such as the radio has been upgraded but he does have the original and that he added the carpet.

It also states he has : Documentation:

Original Protect-O-Plate!

Original Window Sticker!

Original hand written Bill of Sale!

Original typed invoice of Bill of Sale!

A Build Sheet !

I think this is one of the better auctions I have seen, this guy has many ways he could have tried to pass the car off as being something it isn't, but he seems very truthful about the changes that have been made.

what the hells a "snowflake" intake?...i'd have to agree with the others who said its a nice car at a reasonable price, no matter what it actually is, if i were in the market, i'd get after it.

you know? i keep coming back to this ride. i'm in the minority of people who actually liked the green cars g.m. put out. i actually owned a green on green lemans once and i loved that car. if i had the $, i would fly to florida and take a serious look at this ride. yeah, it's not a b.b. ss, but it is just different enough to catch my attention. he seems to be trying to be as honest as possible, he seems to have docs to back up his claims, and i've seen very poor clones go for more $. i would have a blast in that car.....

but how much fun could you REALLY have knowing that it has the wrong door panels in it?
every time you got in or out of the car, it would drive you insane..

I've never liked these cars, but that's personal. To each his own, buyer beware, etc.

I think he's lucky to be getting the bids he's getting. It wasn't too long ago that everyone seemed to remember the "Heavys" were low-budget SS wannabes with all the looks and none of the cooks (2bbl 350 etc.) How this one is bringing that kind of dough I'll never know.

I'd rather have a slantnose '75 Laguna S-3 than this one...but again, that's personal.

with that in mind, i remember everybody saying the 396 was a pig, and novas with built 327's and 350's were smokin them at the races. your right, it is personal preference. i hated the government bumper cars, but they are starting to come on strong. like i've said before, cars you couldn't give away 15 years ago, are now worth big bucks. look at the prices of 58 chevy's or superbirds.

i know this particular car isn't exactly right, but for what it is, and what he's asking, i'd definately be interested. in socal, there are so many raggedy cars going for ridiculas prices, that to see something close to real, for a decent price is refreshing. door panels mean little to me, a good overall package is what attracts guys like me, it doesn't have to be nuts and bolts correct, just a clean, drivable, tight car, that isn't over hyped, or hacked up. from the comments i've seen, this car isn't too far away from being proper.

let me ask some of you guys who know more on the subject than i. could you build this car for 20k? i know regionaly, this car might be a little expensive, but in the bigger metro areas, do you see anything this nice for the dollars? i know anything that nice around here goes 25-35k or more, depending how right it is, heck we have an ss clone on this site (very nice car) going for 25k. i'm just wondering, is the heavy chevy that far off, to warrant some of the negitive remarks? i'm curious, i don't really know that much about heavy chevy's. i do know a friend of my father's, bought one new, and it had carpet in it, so i was surprised to hear it shouldn't have carpet....

i agree with derrick, i'm gagging a little even now.

mostly i agree with bill, after seeing what some of you guys have gone through, replacing 1/4's, floor pans, trunk floors, window frames, etc,etc and the trials and tribulations associated with that, i would think a good 64-72, totally rust free, fully intact body with glass, on a good straight frame with no rear end or motor sitting on blocks in a barn, 20 miles west of the last (and only) stoplight in, kentucky, with weeds growing out the grill and a small family of wildebeests living in it, would be worth 10 grand easy, and this car is slightly better than that.
c'mon, a 75 anything?, you're 100% correct, its a personal taste thing, and personally, i think 75 laguna's are uglier than a hatfull of (bleep)holes and are likely to remain so.
i wonder how many screaming sbc's started life as a "non cooking" 2bbl 350ci ?

ok, ok,...they're not quite that ugly, sorry...it is after all, a chevelle :)

There are two stoplights and a McDonald's there now :)

My Chevelle started off as a stock 350 and it was similiar in color; when new. I like the H.C. but that color combo isn't a favorite of mine. See my signature link to prove my point. The Laguna...please stop the madness.

are you sure thats not a starbucks?
