I built 2 different engines with stock heads,,for pickup's
The 1975 stepside was a 355 with flattops and 993 heads and a 292cam 3000 or 3500 summit converter and stock rear with 373's ported Qjet intake with a 600 holley , headders and 3" exaust it ran
14.02 at 101mph
the other was a 70 shortbed with a 268H and Rpm intake 350 with stock converter and 373 gears it ran
14.5 at 95mph it had the X head with 194- 150 valves and large chamber
Swapped over to ported 305 heads and 1.84 and 1.50 valves with 62cc chambers when finished and it ran the same time 14.50 but it was spinning for 3/4 of the track , and mph was 101-103. and shift rpm went up from 5500 to 6500 in 1'st and 5000 to 6000 in 2'nd

The dude welded the spiders shortely after that and ended up breaking an axle in that 12 bolt, about a week later...he was running them old hard sidewall takeoffs around on the street.:noway:
