Seems like when an animated picture is copied or saved, when opened again it's no longer animation?

The only animated files I've seen are .GIF files. I haven't had any problems with using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (w/XP Pro) but then I don't open that many to say it never fails. Anytime you save a .GIF animated file with a .JPG or .BMP extension it changes the structure of the file and only grabs the current view.
