'69 SS: Dad took a job welding at a garbage-truck manufacturer, and heard of a co-worker with this car, going through a divorce, and needed to sell. I bought the car for $1,000 (in 1994), and my brother bought the non-original 402, 4-speed, and all the parts that came with it. I was 12 years old at the time

'69 Malibu:
I was riding with my parents when they decided to take the long way to get somewhere, and I spotted this sitting in a driveway. Nobody ever seemed to be home, but when we finally were able to talk to the guy, I bought the car for $500 and drove it home. I was 15 when I got this one.

It looks a little different now. :)

'66 wagon:
This is what it looked like the day we bought it back in July... My wife and I went to Chevell-abration on our honeymoon (cool wife, eh?) and when she was there, she took a liking to the early chevelle wagons. She has a thing for green, and I was hoping she'd find a '66 (66 is my 2nd favorite year) so when she found this one online, we both got pretty excited, and drove to Nebraska to buy it for $6500.

I was 16 and on the school bus one morning when I saw this charcoal grey 66 pass by. I'm not sure if I'd ever even seen one before, but I knew I had to have it. I had no idea who it belonged to or where to look, but I started combing neighborhoods in my 64 four-door I had at the time. After a few weeks I found the car parked behind someone's home. It's kind of funny that I even noticed it because just a small part of the passenger rear quarter could be seen from the road. I knocked on the door and talked to the owner about buying it. He said he wasn't sure so I left him my phone number. A few days later he called me and told me he'd sell me the car for $1200. My 64 went for sale the following day. I sold the 64 in about a week and immediately went back and bought the 66. 21 years later I still have the 66 and the rest is history.:)

a guy down the street from me (who I also work with) had a son that owned "mine", his son got in some legal trouble, needed to sell the 66, the blazer and the IROC..... he told me what he wanted, I looked and said i couldn't take it for what he wanted. he said "give me an offer". I told him I didn't want to insult him, so it'd be best if I just passed on the car. It sat off a busy street but could be seen from that street...... days turned to weeks and his son again got into trouble requiring a "visit" to our local facilities. with no cash coming in to make payments on the blazer, this guy was picking up all the bills for his son.
he passed my cubicell one day and said, "do you want the car" "well, i'd like the car, but i can't afford what you want" "what'll you give me for it?" "I can get you $700.00" "OK, when?" "tonight after work, here's $50.00 to hold it"...... the guy across from me popped his head up and said "if you didn't buy that, I was gonna jump on it"

here's pics

Found it browsing an on-line site. The add had been up for over a month, and I called the guy to see if it was still for sale. No answer, so I figured that the hunt would go on. About an hour later he called back, and I made arrangements to go see it that weekend. About an hour and a half north of me, I drove to the guys house to look at the car.

454, 4-Speed, 12 bolt rear. Clamied to be an SS, but no documentation. So I gave the car a good look. I asked him why it hadn't sold. He said he had a lot of people come look at it, but they all said there was no way it was an origonal BBC, an SS, and one guy said it had a new roof put on it.

Drove the car and ran very strong, but the linkage hung up in 2nd (no big deal). Very little rust, came with a chrome rear bumper. I put the deposit down on it, and 2 days later it was in my garage. After going over the car, and discovering this site, we found out it was made in Canada. Sent them teh VIN, they sent us teh buildsheet. True LS5, M22, Cranberry Red car :hurray:

All teh origonal parts are long gone, but I really don't care. Few years and a few $$ later, she's just how I want.

Found it on an internet add, College kid had it & needed cash I guess. Went & looked (2 hours away) it had a boned out 350 with way too big of cam, (I Had a 406 at home for it) Fresh 350 turbo w/shift kit, 12 bolt 3:31 posi & a C.I. hood with 95% of the parts.
Looked pretty good but as usual once you tear into em' ya' find the cancer. I am replacing both 1/4's, Outer wheel houses & LH Door. At least now I'll know what's under the paint.

In the last 5 years I've bought 4 chevelles. All of them have been off of ebay. I got burned on the 1rst one b/c I had it shipped in. The other 3 I picked up in person. Two were way rougher than described and one was actually better than I expected! I'm down to one car now. 69' SS 396 convertible. It's in the body shop right now and should be coming off of the frame any time now.

I looked in the local papers and swap meets for about 6 mos and everything I saw either had no options, was out of my range or trashed. Mostly trashed and overpriced. Mine needed some work, but had all the good factory stuff. Paid $2200 for it back in 97. If I only knew then how badly the body was hammered....Guy did a pretty good bondo and primer job on it.
Its been a heck of a learning experience, and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as I start putting it back together.

I found my first (69) in 1969 and second (70) in 1969 Chevelle at the local Chevrolet dealers in their new car inventory, my third (68) in 1994 from a local individual that was being forced to sell it by his wife. My fourth (68SS) in 1995 at a local body shop buried under years of dust and junk. Drove it home and now totally restoring it to original.

Found mine in a small advetisement in a local paper. I still have the ad I read that day. Bought it for $200 it was a 66 300 Deluxe still original only missing the quarter panel chrome(it was parked in a barn). That was in November 1986. I had it on the road for several years. I am now in the middle of a restore.

I found all 3 of my Chevelles on Team Chevelle!!! You can see pictures in my showroom link below.

I found my 72 Malibu here in the classifieds. It was 15 minutes away. A 72 for $2500 that was well worth it. A set of heads, carb, tune-up and wheels and tires and I was good to go. For awhile anyways - then I got it painted. It is now called "The Mistress".

I then got a hankering for a wagon. I convinced the wife to sell her mini-van gave her my truck and bought a 72 wagon out of South Carolina that I found once again in the classifieds here. My wife said "6 months and you trade it." It was almost 6 months to the day when I did.

I posted here and wanted to trade for a 68 to 72 2 door. My son came up with a great idea of painting the new 2 door the reverse of the 72 and calling it the "Evil Twin". So I traded Nik out of New Mexico for his 71 Malibu. I had it for some time before the wife got into a pretty bad fender bender with the truck. We were down to the 71 Malibu as our daily driver and I made my wife drive me back and forth to work for awhile. We then decided to buy her her Tahoe. I got the truck out of the shop and had 2 cars. Life was good.

My buddy calls and I ended up selling the 71 to him. He recently got it painted and is getting wheels and tires next. So I am back to my 1st Chevelle and man do I love it!!!!! I have had alot of fun over the last 2 months driving to our North Texas Chevelles get togethers and shooting the breeze with people afflicted with the same passion for Chevelles.

I am always looking for that next deal I cannot pass up. I must say I do miss the wagon and the 71. They were fun cars. Later.

I drove by a a house with a truck like mine parked out front, that had a billet grill in it,stopped to ask about the grill and while we were talking he said there was a '70 Chevelle in the back yard about to go to the junk/scrap yard.I've put alot of miles on it since then.Alot of parts and $ also, but you can't tell,it still looks like a wreck.

My wife found the '70 for sale online...about 100 miles from here. ATL built car thats always been in GA.
The '66 wagon I bought yesterday I found earlier this week online. An AZ car that just was shipped to Indy two weeks ago where I picked it up.

found mine by accident, guy was advertising chevelle parts, I called and asked if he had anything that would fit my 72 el camino. Only thing he had was a set of buckets for $100. I went and grabbed them, I was pretty sure they were chevelle buckets but asked anyway, he told me he still had the car they came from. For $200 for basically a rolling frame, and a body shell. Friend needed some parts that came with it, so they paid the $200, I paid the $30 for shipping and 2 1/2 months later I was driving a chevelle.
My 68 elky was in a friend from works back yard, his nieghbor owns it and couldnt take it to the new house because of the association. and had to get rid of it, I bought it as is for $1500, drained the gas and installed a HEI and been driving it since. Jim

Found mine in a local racing forum. My first car was a 71 Chevelle and I had all but given up on finding another that I could afford. I found this one in all primer with a lot of SS options minus the build sheet. Bought it as a regular Chevelle for 5K.

I was at my girlfriend's house watching tv, when he little brother came in from riding his bike and said there was a Chevelle for sale up the street... I thought to myself "Hmmm, it's probably not even a Chevelle." He didn't know what year, or how much it cost... So we went to look at it. It was my 68 Chevelle. Had lots of bad body work done on the passengers side, but all new interior, A/C car... The "rebuilt engine" had recently spun a bearing. He wanted $3500 for it... I offered $3000 (which I still think was too much, but I wanted it)... Took it home that weekend.

My old 71 was originally my Mom's car, I dad came home with it one day out of the blue in 85, shortly after I was born... Said he was driving in town, and saw it on a lot, went and bought it... Well an elderly lady that shouldn't have been driving failed to negotiate a turn, and wiped out the whole driver's side of the car... Dad bought it back from the insurance company for $500 bucks, and then I bought it from him a few years later.

Guy at the dealership I used to work in asked me one day if i wanted a really clean Chevelle, he didnt know the year for sure but he knew it was clean, so i go to look at it and its under a car port behind his house. There i did in fact find a really clean 70 malibu. It had the original 350 with th350 trans, dual exhaust and a extremly clean interior. Got the guy on the phone later that day and within a few days I drove her home

My dads malibu i had heard about from another guy at the dealership earlier that year, he told me he knew of a 71 chevelle thats been garaged for almost 20 years. The guy was sentimentaly attached because it was his first car but it was time for it to go. So one day after work i went to his house and in a beautiful 2 car heated garage under about 3 inches of dust there she was. Originally a 350 4 speed car she now had a l79 327 that had been built up in the late 70's, m/t valve covers, holley 650 double pumper, m20 4 speed and traction bars with big wide bias plies in the rear and skinny bias plies in the front. Guy bought the car in 78, installed the engine in 79 and parked the car in the garage in 85 when he moved to australia. He finally moved back in the 90's and never did anything with the car. We towed it to my dealership, i changed the fuel pump, the plugs, set the points, installed a battery and out new bowl gaskets on the holley. she fired right up. Picked that car up for $4500

we found the buildsheets to both cars too!

I looked in the local trader and there were advertisements for 4 Chevelles. The only person that called me back was the seller of the car I now own. The caller was actually the wife of the seller. They were getting a divorce, and she didn't know he was selling it. So, she gave me his work number (the number I didn't call first) and I worked out a deal with him. I have pictures in my signature, but it looked nothing like it does today.

Found my 64 on ebay. It was still owned by the nephew of the old lady that bought it new. She bought it new at Don Allen Cheverolet Miami Flordia. After her death in the 80's in brought it to Las Vegas where he lived. I bought it in 2002 and pulled a trailer all the way to Vegas to get it and ended up driving it home without any problems at all.

Found the three 68's and the 66 that I owned years ago all at used car lots.

I was working at Advance Auto and a guy came in and said, "I need a cheap battery to sell a car quick."
I ask, model, make, and year and he says 1971 Chevelle.
Me:"What are you looking to get?"
Him:"$2500"
Me:"Give me the address, I'll be over after work."

I met him later, but the $37 battery he bought in and fired it up! It had been sitting for 1.5 years.
I offered $1500, he came back with $2000 so I scooped it up.
It was his wife's aunt's car and they were clearing out the estate. It had 35k miles and was garaged all it's life.
I daily drove it for several years. I bought it in 1997 and just sold it a couple weeks ago. This is when I got rid of it, it looked a lot better when I first got it but I can't find any of those pictures.

I had sold my 72 a few years back before i bought my 70. I regreted it soon after i sold it but really didnt have the money to buy one. One day I happend to see a 70 for sale in wichita. Drove down and looked at it in a tiny garage. I was told it was a 350 ended up being a 305 but didnt matter to me.

The car had new Hotchkis on the front and they had done the bottom stuff on the rear end. A box of the the rest of the Hotchkis stuff was in the trunk.

He was asking 2500, i offered him 1800, he took it. (he wanted to buy a new guitar.) Overall it was more work than i thought, tons of rust. 3 years later, just about finished.
