I just bought this Tilt steering column out of a 1967 Chevelle. How can I tell if its an original Tilt steering column for a floor shift 1967 Chevelle?

Pete, from your description I'm not sure what to say.

Here's the obvious:
1) '67 was first year for safety collapsable steering column. Underneath a plastic sheath there is an expanded metal collapsable portion.

2) Floor shift column would obviously not have a spot for a column shifter, nor should there be shifter forks at the base.

Most importantly: if you bought it out of a '67 Chevelle, what makes you question whether it is out of a '67 Chevelle?

Well, The guy I bought it off of had the car for only a little while and wrecked it. He pulled it out of his 1967 Chevelle, So I assume this would be correct for 1967 Chevelle. I just wanted to make sure it was, I don't want to put it in my car if it isn't.

SS Pete,

I would have a real close look at the collapsable portion that Bomber refers to. If the car it came out of was in a front end collision, you just want to make sure that collapsable portion under the plastic cover isn't buckled.
I have some pics of my column on my web site if you wanted to compare.
