I'm looking at hooker comp plus 520-2217-1 for my 69 396. It has a footnote that they will fit only with if big block engine stands are used? What doe this actually mean? I'm looking at a bolt on process and the headers are a steal.
Anybody use these on their 69? How do they fit? Satisfied with performance?
Thank-you.

What he said, but be prepared to un-bolt the driver side mount and jack the engine up slightly to get the driver side in place. The passenger side should drop in with some finesse. The Hooker's are good headers, but hang too low IMO, so watch out for every steep driveway, parking lot entry and every speed bump.

in mu opinion, hooker headers are way overpriced. i run hedman headers and they were $50 cheaper than the hooker ones and were identical.

These were the biggest headers I could fit inside the chassis. I sent mine out to be Jet Hot coated. I had to get the front of my car way up in the air to install the driver's side header. They hang down a little low and may cause some clearance issues. It just all depends on what you want to get out of your headers.

Yes I did too and had to move mine to the top of the frame. Also if you use heads with raised exhaust ports you will have to move the engine forward 3/8 of an inch to clear the lower control arm boss that is welded to the frame, or it will lay right against it. Ask me how I know this hahaha. If you do have this prob PM me and I will get you the motor mount part number that can be modified to do this. Bill
