we've been finishing our basement and hired a trim carpenter to build us a cherry wood mantle and some window sills. He did a good job building them but totally screwed up staining them. He used a jel stain and it came out horribly. It came out blochy and has brush marks. We want to strip it off and do it correctly.

Any ideas how to get the gel stain off?

cherry is hard to get a good stain job on....... tough to not get the "blotchies"......... google for techniques before you do it a sencond (and possibly third) time

chemical strippers, patience & some light sanding
