I was helping a friend with his car today and it runs way too rich at idle. Its a new engine so we just shut it down to check stuff over and everything is checking out o.k. Any idea where too start.its a dominator on a 496 .the jets are 87 ,92s.It is a custom built carb by chuck nuytten but he isnt there on the weekends.Anyone know the best to lean it out ?

You might start at the idle air bleeds, since the main jets won't really change the idle richness. Larger idle air bleeds will lean it out. More initial timing may help also.

thanks for the help.the air bleeds dont have any numbers on them to know where to start. We might have to wait to see what they used when building the carb.
