But the "B" code only reflects what the transmission was originally, from GM... Even if it was only rebuilt the one time, common practice (17+ years ago) was to use whatever parts were good. If the case had any wear/damage, its likely that a shop, with their reputation on the line, would find/use a "good" replacement case without regard to keeping/using the original case.
I think those values sound like reasonable/typical "asking prices" for selling a nice, but used, Muncie, and add $100-$200 for a bellhousing and shifter (IMO)... A pro/rebuilder probably won't pay that much for what could be a core, but the general public just might...
But, you need to open it up (most buyers will want it open for inspection anyway), check the tooth angles (M20/M21 or M22), check the ratio so you know what you have and what you are selling...
I doubt the "Art Carr" connection will bring anything, since it was so long ago, and its been used... Its just another shop that has more of a reputation for automatics.

how much are stock muncie 4-speeds out of a 70 ss Chevelle going for? I have a line on getting a 70ss that needs a resto, with a 350 and muncie 4-speed for $600 more than without the engine and trans....worth buying them or not worth it? Thanks and once again sorry
First, are you sure the transmission is really for a '70SS? I only ask, because the 350 was NOT available in the '70SS (396/402 and 454 ONLY)... So if the engine was changed, then maybe the trans was too...
Are you sure its really a 350? Really a Muncie? Lots of sellers think that any small block is a 350 and any 4-speed is a Muncie...
Know what you are looking at, before you buy; Take pictures, spend some time on the internet learning about the looks and the casting numbers, etc...
If its a 350/Muncie combo, in good, usable condition, then its probably worth the $600 (and I'd try to negotiate down on the whole package anyway)...
IF its really a Muncie from a "70SS", then you need to do some further investigation... Use the previous mentioned values as a starting point ($400, $600, $1200)... If the transmission originally belonged to THAT same '70SS, then its almost priceless (and $600 would be a steal, as long as its decent condition...).
