Everything I have read, indicates that the HEI distributor I pulled from a 1974 (4 bolt 350) should slide into this 1992 305 motor. I

The dist. shaft at the bottom, appears to be to large to fit down near the cam gear.

I think I have tried everything I have read and watched on the web in regards to a dist. installation. It SHOULD go in right???

No dumber then priming the oil system with the hole in the back of the block (where you hook up the oil pressure gage) open.

Man it took forever to get all the oil cleaned up out of the rafters and windshield and cowl. It was bad...

Oh, well, I will admit to installing the tailhousing to my TH350 this afternoon and leaving the yoke seal out. So it all had to come out again........

Love this stuff.....

LOL, reminds me of the time I left the front bushing out of the pump when I rebuilt one. It wobbled a bit on the crank and leaked from the seal, but it ran fine. I found the problem when I pulled the trans to change the seal. :clonk:

Nowadays, it's the combination of eyesight and CRS that hinders me. Just yesterday, I put new bars on my Springer, and ran the wiring internally. I wrote down all the wire connections on paper, and took the wires out of their connectors. Put one side back on just fine, but wasn't wearing my reading glasses when I did the other side. Got it all together, tank back on, filled with gas, turned the key, and the horn started blaring. Took everything back apart, got the connector off, and sure enough, I'd wired everything into the connector upside down, because I couldn't really see the numbers on it without my glasses.

The rotor "can" be installed 180 degrees off...but it takes some effort considering that the rotor is keyed to the distributor shaft and will only fit PROPERLY if facing the correct direction.

Yup, I did that back in my high-school days.
