I'm getting ready to cut off my original collector on the Blackjack headers I've got and attach the Flowmaster Scavenger Collectors to them.
I have 2 questions:

1. The directions tell me to coat the inside of the primary tube inlets on the collector and the outside of the header primary tubes with a high-temperature sealer such as Permatex #1 (orange/brown). I was on Permatex's website and couldn't find that product anywhere. Does it exist or is there something compareable out there you guys could recommend?

2. The next to the last step says that the tabs and hardware provided can be used to fasten the collector to the header. Can't I just weld them fast or how exactly do the tabs(with holes) and the hardware(nuts and bolts) attach?

Thanks for any suggestions or help in advance.

Scott L.,
When you say weld them on do you mean weld the tabs on or just weld the collector "solidly" to the primary tubes?

I'll need to measure my primary tubes to the weld at the collector where I need to cut them. Is 35" a good length to make them or should they be longer? What's the best method to lengthen them? Can you tell I'm not an exhaust guy?

What kind of strap can I use to wrap the collector to take some stress off and how to attach? Sorry for all the questions but would like to only do this once and do it right the first time.
