hello- i received the news today that my 990 rectangular port heads are cracked. I was building a L88 copy. the short block- 12.3 to 1 forged keith black pistons,7/16" dimple rods,gm forged crank, rotating assembly balanced,2bolt arp studded mains, ati balancer, chet herbert solid roller >630/.650 lift 255/265 cam. i built the motor to rev - any recommendations on heads to look at?Mans its kind of depressing to hear the news that your build is postponed again!

might as well buy something with newer tech. only thing i'll suggest is to keep it small, and stay with a head with the exhaust ports in the stock location. i have canfields with raised exhaust, and it does create header fitment problems. they flow very well though.

i don't think i agree with this statement, but most everyone here likes the oval port stuff. so i guess your building a 427 ? my old builder runs 10 flat with the 188 castings and a healthy solid roller in a stock bore 454 in a 65 chevelle drag car. afr or brodix are pretty much king of the hill. brodix race rites or afr 305's would fit the bill . i'm surprised that no one has chimed in ,but my above statement should stir something up . lol sometimes you gotta give em something to argue about.
