I recently built a 540, Big M, AFR 325s. All new stuff. Edelbrock Vic Jr was poor fit. I checked the angle of the block decks to each other and to the end rails, OK. .010 deck clearance front and rear both sides. I checked the angle of the intake surface of the heads to the heads' deck, both the same both ends. Without gaskets the manifold sat on the block end rails. With gaskets it was off the block but very close on the drivers side. Larger gap on the passenger side. Looking down the ports it looked like the manifold was somehow twisted or something. the ports were too high on one corner and too low on the opposite corner. On the manifold the angles of the intake gasket surfaces to the endrails was the same both sides both ends. The distance from the bottom or top of the ports to the edge was about the same. I was using AFR intake gaskets, ended up buying a double thick set (like 0.060), using one of those along with one standard gasket. The manifold fit fine like that, ports lined up good. Upshot of deal is I couldn't find anything wrong with any of the parts but they didn't fit together worth a darn.

I've had excellent luck with Edelbrock parts over the years (decades), always felt they had better QC than any other performance parts company. I can't even guess how many of their manifolds I've installed, never a problem. Bottom line for me is I'll keep using their stuff unless I get another oddball, then I'll be in touch with them.

Chris, I don't recall any red ink stamp but wasn't looking for one either. What does it mean? The manifold I got looked good but the box looked like it had been around a few years, has dust and shelf wear. It came from Lopers in Phx, I know they have a large volume business with Edelbrock, I've seen them unloading truck loads of the stuff.
