I ordered a new harmonic dampener for my 1969 350ci engine build. The geometry of the new one is different from the old one but I don't think that matters since the location of the pulley will remain the same. However, the timing line on the new one is not in the same location as the old one. At TDC the new dampener is near the top (12:00 O'clock) whereas the old one lines up at 0 degrees (approx. 2:00 O'clock) on the pointer that is attached to the timing chain cover. My question is: Can I simply cut a new timing line on the new dampener or should I mount a new degree indicator to match the new dampener timing line location?
