I was looking around and saw that the rubber in the harmonic balancer has some irregularity. No cracks and the rubber doesn't feel dry or brittle. The irregular area itself is flat, and not rounded as it would be in a typical bulging. In the picture, viewing the rubber ring as though it were a clock, at about 6:32 there is a diagonal seam or overlap. Engine runs smoothly. There is no noise or perceptible wobble.

I've driven about 70,000 of the 105,000 miles on the engine. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, apparently a job well done according to mechanics who have serviced it over the years. I have no idea if this is the original balancer from the factory or if it was replaced in the rebuild.

Is this normal?
